Aluminum CNC machining services allow manufacturers to create precision-machined parts that play integral roles in a variety of industries. Aluminum, in particular, is the most popular material to manipulate through CNC machining thanks to several notable properties including affordability, durability, softness, and corrosion-resistance.
Richardson Metals Aluminum CNC Machining Capabilities
At Richardson Metals, we utilize two 3-axis and one 4-axis CNC machining center giving you the flexibility and capability to receive a finished part in-house. By partnering with our Sales/Engineering team, we can-inhouse machine shop jobs quickly and economically, reducing cycle times and passing those savings to you. Our multi-axis machining capabilities allow us to reduce the number of setups to give you a lower cost par and quicker delivery.
Richardson Metals has two 3-axis CNC HAAS machining centers in-house. We can offer semi-finished or finished parts for your prototyping or production requirements.
Aluminum machined prototypes are commonly produced according to a variety of alloys. The most used alloy is the 6061-T6, which is used in electronics, transportation, aerospace, and military industries, among others.
Aluminum alloys are low in density but high in strength. Our CNC machines can manufacture unique and quality aluminum prototypes. Automated CNC milling is the perfect choice for high speed, close tolerance, small and large production runs.
Custom Aluminum Extrusions Machined by Richardson Metals
6061 Aluminum alloy is a precipitation hardened aluminum alloy, containing magnesium and silicon as its major alloying elements. It has good mechanical properties, exhibits good weldability and is very commonly extruded (second in popularity only to 6063). It is one of the most common alloys of aluminum for general purpose use. Typical properties of aluminum alloy 6061 include: medium to high strength and toughness, good surface finish, excellent corrosion resistance to atmospheric conditions, good corrosion resistance to sea water, easily anodized, good weldability and good workability. Aluminum alloy 6061 is one of the most extensively used in precision extrusion and machining.
In addition to our CNC machining capabilities, Richardson Metals also offers custom shape extrusions to near net tolerances to minimize the need for machining. If your project requires custom-shaped aluminum extrusions, contact our team for further details and we’ll offer a clear view of our options for fulfillment.
